Rescue Me ID: 17-10-16-00168Goofy (female)

American Shorthair Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello there. My name is Goofy, and I'm a 13-year-old female spayed Domestic Shorthair with claws. I'm a pretty little thing with my gray tabby markings separated by large patches of white with a white face and pink nose. I'm a quiet lady and love nothing more than to sit on my mom's lap or sleep next to her in bed. I'm quieter than ever right now because my whole life has been turned upside down and I'm scared and confused by it all. I knew that my prior mom was sick, but then she got really sick and couldn't get up. It was terrible, and before I knew what was happening, men with big boots and coats broke into my house and took Mom away! ... (Read More) And then I was alone in the house for weeks. My mom's daughter, who loves me very much, came by to make sure that I had food and water, but I really didn't feel like eating or drinking. I was just too scared and stressed. They tell me that I'm underweight now, and let me tell you, stress and loneliness are no way for a lady to lose weight! Even now that I'm here at the Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center, I'm still frightened and hide under my prior mom's pillow. I like to be petted, but am too shy to come out to get it. I need a forever home where I can feel safe and loved again. I'm tired of being sad and scared. I told you that my name is Goofy, but I've had several names over the course of my life. My brother, who died a number of years ago, and I came to mom from a friend of hers who found us in a garage that was about to be torn down. She wanted good old-fashioned farm names for us, so she named us Harold and Agatha. Well, Harold eventually became Punk. I became Goose because when I was a kitten I used to like to pounce on my prior mom's daughter's feet, and she called my Silly Goose or Goosey Girl. I was Goose until my Mom went away and the lady from Safe Place for Pets made an appointment for me to go to the vet to get my shots (ycch!) and be checked out. When she made the appointment, the lady at the vet's office misunderstood what she said and wrote my name down as Goof. As it turns out, that was for the best, because there used to be another cat at the Welcome Center named Goose. She was there for a long time before she died of kidney disease, and everyone loved her very, very much. It would have been very hard for them to have a different cat with the same name. So, since Goof sounds a lot like Goose, it seemed like a great idea to call me that, or better yet, Goofy or Goofy Girl. I really don't care what you call me as long as you love me! Won't you please come to the Welcome Center to meet me? You can email Safe Place at info@safeplacepets.org or call (719) 359-0201 to make an appointment to come meet me. I hope you do because I really, really need someone all my own who will cherish me. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-16-00164Dodge (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Dodge! I'm a 7 year old Border Collie mix who is 52 pounds. I'm a sweet boy who is looking for a quiet home. My mom is sick and won't be able to care for me, my cat friend, and my older dog friend. She has moved in with her daughter to get the care she needs. My dog friend and I have moved too. The house is pretty crowded with all the humans and pets. My cat friend has found a new home. My dog friend is older, so she will stay with my aunt, but I need a new home. I'm looking for someone who is looking for me...a quiet, calm guy. I like to be indoors, curled up, and relaxing near you. I'm good with cats, and other dogs. I ... (Read More)like to play a little with a rope or ball. I'm good at retrieving the ball, but I like to keep it after that. So throw it once, and we may be done. I'll entertain myself for a while after that. I don't need a lot of exercise, just a lot of love and affection. I'm used to a back yard, so if you have one of those, that will be great. I've been on a few walks, and I'm Ok once we get going. I'm a little timid when I start, as it's not something I've done a lot. Something I like to do thought, is give you a hug, if you need one. Just ask, and I'll put my head on your shoulder and neck and give you my version of a hug. You'll love it! Please contact Safe Place for Pets for more information on meet, and to meet me. I've got lots of life and love left to give someone. Could you be the one to receive me? Please contact Safe Place at 719-359-0201 or look for me on their website: www.safeplacepets.org/adopt (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-22-00213Cece (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Hi, everyone! My name is Cece and I am a new arrival at the Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center, where cats who have lost their families to terminal illness live until new families adopt them. As you can see from my pictures, I am finding my new temporary home to be very comfortable, but I know that I will like a new furever home and family even more! Perhaps once you read about me, you will come by to visit. Let me know you will be stopping by and I will brew a pot of coffee for us to enjoy! Sadly, I lost my mom not too long ago to a terminal illness. She adopted me as a young kitten, but honestly, I think I still am a youngster since I ... (Read More)won't be 2 years old until my birthday in November. I am a very pretty, calico girl, who is spayed and indoor-only. Besides my mom, I lived with a cockapoo and a kitty brother, and I enjoyed their company very much. My mom's son tried to add me to his family, after my siblings were adopted by friends of my mom, but I could not adjust to his German shorthair pointer, a very mellow boy who really was always nice to me. Now I am embarrassed by my bad behavior toward him, but at the time I was just too fearful of his 'giant' size! In my new future home, it would be best if any dogs were no bigger than cockapoo size. Even though I like the company of small dogs and cats, nothing is better than the company of people. I love the attention from the cattery volunteers, and I come running when treats are included. I hope soon I will be able to do the same with you! Contact Safe Place for Pets on the web (safeplacepets.org), by phone (719-359-0201) or email them at info@safeplacepets.org to meet me. I hope to see you soon and I am confident that you won't be disappointed! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-23-00243Raven (male)

Russian Blue    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! I'm here to reintroduce myself and tell you how much my life has changed. I used to go by the name Rascal, but the folks at Safe Place decided that I was more of a Raven. I have to admit that I'm not black like a raven, but gray because I'm a Russian Blue. It's a good name for me in any case. But what I really want to tell you is how much happier I am than I was when I first came to Safe Place for Pets! I was so frightened and sad that everyone decided that I would be happier with a foster who could help me recover. She has been absolutely wonderful, and I am a whole new me. I don't hide in my room anymore. I wander the house ... (Read More)and ask for rubs (my foster laughs at how vocal I am when I want attention); I sit on the windowsill and watch the birds at the feeder; and I even play. I'm fine with her Labrador Retriever and the outside dogs don't bother me either. I'd really like to be better friends with her cat, but she's not interested. All in all, I'm ready to meet people and maybe find my forever home! My foster mom says that I am a great guy and would make anyone a wonderful pet. Won't you call the Safe Place folks at 719-359-0201 or email them at info@safeplacepets.org so that they can arrange a time for us to meet? I'd love that, and I think you might too! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-14-00381Joni (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Senior

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, everyone! My name is Joni, and my dad says I was named for Joan of Arc, because we were both strong and brave girls! I am a spayed, 15-year-old, short hair, tortoise cat, with black, tan, and white accents%BD'%BD|and I also have white feet. Everyone comments on how pretty I am! I was rescued by my prior family as a very young and sickly stray kitty, who showed up on their porch about 7 %BD%BD years ago on a very cold Easter morning. They took me in and helped me become a healthy, happy girl! I have just arrived at the Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center because my dad has gotten very sick over these past few weeks. When dad was ... (Read More)well, I liked being outside in our yard during the day and playing with the neighborhood children but always came in at night to sleep with him. But with so many nurses coming to our home lately to take care of my dad, I was too worried to come inside so I have been staying outside full time. I learned that 'it's a jungle out there,' especially when raccoons came during the night to steal my cat kibble! And it was lonely, since I am very affectionate, love being petted, brushed, and sitting in a warm lap, and having my family's company. The Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center is quite nice and I know I will be warm, safe, and well-fed while I am here. And the caring volunteers will be giving me (and all the other cats living here) lots of love and attention, but I also know this is a temporary home until a new forever family decides I am the one! Come to the Welcome Center to meet me and see for yourself what a great cat I am! Contact Safe Place for Pets by email at info@safeplacepets.com or by phone (719-359-0201)--I just may be that 'one' who is a perfect match for your family! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-07-00193Snowball (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, Snowball here. It's been a while now since I came to Safe Place for Pets, and I have been thinking that I should give everyone an update on how things have changed. For those of you who don't know me, I am an indoor-only four-year-old male neutered domestic shorthair with claws. I'm a handsome fellow: pure white(of course!) with green eyes. By the way, you may have heard that pure white cats are deaf, but that's only true if they have blue eyes. So I can hear you just fine! I came to the Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center with my four siblings on July 28 after our dad died. The three girls have already found forever homes, so it's just ... (Read More)my brother Raven and I now, and Raven is on pre-adopt, the lucky guy. So now it's just me. None of the SafePlace volunteers can understand why no one seems to want me. I'm very handsome - did I mention that? - loving, and playful. If you sit down, I will jump up in your lap so that you can love on me. If you are standing, I will stretch up and put my front paws on your thighs (I'm tall!) to remind you that I'm there. I'm also happy to help you with whatever paperwork you happen to be doing. Of course if you decide that I'm lots more fun than work, that's fine by me! I said that I'm playful. You ought to see me go after a laser light! I could chase those things forever -or at least until your wrists get to tired to play anymore. I also love catnip; it sends me straight to heaven. If you give me one of those catnip mice, I will bat it around until it vanishes underneath a couch or cabinet. Then I have to summon you to either fish it out or give me a new one. I do love having people at my beck and call. ;-) In short, I'm a wonderful guy who is still waiting for his forever home. Won't you come see me? I just know that you'll fall in love with me. You can make an appointment to come visit me either by emailing Safe Place at info@safeplacepets.org or call them at (719)359-0201. I really wish you would! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-05-00391Miss Kitty (female)

Domestic Cat    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cookie and Miss Kitty here to introduce ourselves and stir your interest in adding us to your family! We recently lost our loving mom and are now adjusting to our new 'temporary' home at the Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center. We are littermate sisters who are also bonded-we are each other's best friend and like to stay close to each other, and we will even share attention from our people! We are 8 years old, spayed, indoor-only, and have longish fur. Neither of us is too fond of being brushed, but if you show us the brush first, we will enjoy your attention for short brushing sessions! We do have a few differences, especially in appearance ... (Read More)(although we are both beautiful). I am Cookie-a 12-pound, snowshoe/ragdoll mix with blue flecked eyes-and I love to groom you with kitty kisses! And I am Miss Kitty-a 9-pound, long-haired, tuxedo with gold eyes-and I tend to be very cautious in new settings but will warm up to you with lots of conversation and petting! We are quiet and reserved kitties, who have lived with other cats and get along with them, but we have had no exposure to dogs-they will likely be too exuberant for us! To learn more about us and meet us, contact Safe Place for Pets on the web (safeplacepets.org) or by phone (719-359-0201)-let's work together to turn our 'temporary' home into a fur-ever home with you! Rescue Me ID: 17-06-05-00372Eddie (male)

American Shorthair Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Greetings, everyone! Eddie and Jesse here to let you know that we have 'broken up' (so to speak). After we settled in at the Welcome Center (where we came to live while waiting for a new forever home since we lost our mom this past spring), we realized that we are no longer a bonded pair. I (Eddie) discovered that I am really a one-cat kind of guy, who wants my person's attention all to myself-I live to be dedicated to her or him and will be a lap cap as soon as that lap is available. And if you have Carl's Jr. chicken strips to eat, please share them with me-they are delicious! I am a 5-year-old, 12-pound, neutered male with shiny black ... (Read More)fur and big gold eyes. I am an indoor-only kitty, who enjoys lying in the sun, playing with orange pipe cleaner circles, and snuggling on a soft blanket when I'm not snuggling with my people. I really like cardboard scratchers, and raisin bran-I would love to share a bowl with you! Let's get together, so we can disprove all those silly black cat superstitions and have a happy life together! Contact Safe Place for Pets on the web (safeplacepets.org) or by phone (719-359-0201)-hope to meet you soon! (Less)

After we settled in at the Welcome Center (where we came to live while waiting for a new forever home since we lost our mom this past spring), we realized that we are no longer a bonded pair. And I (Jesse) like a very calm and peaceful space, and I also love to give my person head rubs and soulful looks while I listen intently to whatever he or she is saying, which is music to my ears. And I think I have found my new forever home, too! I am currently 'trying out' living with my cat sister from my prior home, Cathy the Maine Coon mix adopted ... (Read More)this past August, and her new family. Cathy and I were so happy to see each other again, and our mom and dad are the best! I am voting to stay forever'|and I think all 3 of them are, too. Hope I can share great news with you soon, once my adoption is a done deal! I am 8 years old, spayed, and 8.5 pounds, with green eyes that just sparkle against her shiny black fur! Once I get to know you and am confident in my surroundings, I am outgoing and very affectionate. I am an indoor-only kitty, who's favorite lounging pose is on my back with all four paws in the air, basking in a sunny spot, of course.     Hi there! My name is Moxie, Sweet Pea. I am a petite black kitty with a few white hairs on my chest, side and back. I am around 2 years old, spade, and still have my claws. I have had one litter of kittens and was a very good first time, young mother. (Kiko is my daughter, in case you are looking for 2 cats.)
